Five Simple Ways To Make A Website

Building a website can be a daunting task, especially with the new developer tools and apps constantly falling out of the cloud. If you are kind of confused about where to begin, this is the article for you. This list will guide you in the right direction even if you are unfamiliar with writing code. It should be  especially helpful if you spent a lot of time "pimping" your MySpace page before the FaceBook takeover.

1. Wix

As if this company needs more publicity. It’s kind of hard to watch a YouTube video these days without having to skip past one of their ads. With all of that being said, this is a great option for someone that wants a fun, interactive, and responsive website fast. You get all of that for free.

2. SiteBuilder

This is almost identical to number one on my list. Of course they have different templates to choose from  You start off with a free account, that lets you drag and drop your site into existence. Unlike their competitor, they are not trying to break the bank. For $4.61 a month, they will remove all of their ads from your site. This is however a promotional price that comes with certain restrictions.

3. Google Docs

Surprise! This is the one I tried to sneak on the list. Turns out that making a website can be as easy as typing a document. While I’m sure many text editors do the same thing, I put Google Docs on the list because I enjoy doing things in the cloud. Although you don’t get the interactivity you would in the first two options, you can produce a good looking webpage in, a short amount of time, without writing code. If you want to learn how to do this, you can head over to my tutorial.

4. Bootstrap

Now is the time to start considering your options if you are looking for a way to make a website without manipulating code. Bootstrap is an extremely useful framework for CSS that makes styling your webpage easier. If you know a little HTML, it goes a long way with this framework. As a professional web developer, I feel guilty of plagiarism everytime I use it.

5. Wordpress

Honestly, I compared Wordpress to Wix when I first used it. It turns out that my assumption far off. However, there is one major difference between them. Wordpress is open source, meaning any developer can contribute to it. This is great because there are more plugins available than WIx. On the flip side, some of the plugins are buggy. This is a good option for anyone who has experience with PHP because Wordpress is available for download  on their .org website which allows you to write your own code and host your own site.
